Migrating a Website for a National Adoption Advocacy Nonprofit

Voice for Adoption is a national adoption advocacy organization with a small team and an outsized voice, promoting permanency for youth in foster care.

When I met with the Voice for Adoption team, their website was hosted in a complex content management system (CMS) that they struggled to edit and maintain. Moreover, the version of Drupal CMS that had been used was reaching its end-of-life date, meaning we had a firm deadline for completing a platform migration.

We needed to develop a website solution that wouldn’t get in the way of Voice for Adoption’s small team, and would accommodate a limited communications budget. We chose to migrate to Squarespace. As a fully-hosted solution, Squarespace avoids security concerns and is easier for non-technical staff or volunteers to edit.

The result: A refreshed, mobile-responsive site with a story library and new integrations

The new website takes advantage of Squarespace’s collection items to build a custom story library, with advanced filters to allow users to explore the stories.
